EFA SAYS BULGARIA HAMPERS
REGISTRATION OF OMO ILINDEN-PIRIN
Bulgaria continues with putting obstacles to OMO Ilinden Pirin in its
efforts to obtain a proper registration.
This is said in the letter sent recently by the European Parliament's
grouping "European Free Alliance" (EFA) to the President of the European
Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso, European Enlargement Commissioner, Olli
Rehn, Council of EU Ministers and the highest Bulgarian authorities.
"Even a year after the European Court of Human Rights came up with a ruling
ordering Bulgaria to accept the registration of OMO Ilinden Pirin, this
country continues with increasing vigor to impede organization's activities,
with an aim to prevent it from acquiring a legitimacy as a participant in
the Bulgarian democracy", EFA's President, Mrs Nelly Maes, says in her
letter.
"A Sofia's Court is due to respond to the request submitted by OMO Ilinden,
however, the preliminary hearing that took place on 18 October 2006 turned
out into a farce", Maes says in the letter, stating a number of facts
related to ridiculous behavior of the Bulgarian authorities in their efforts
to dodge registration of the party.
EFA raises numerous objections against the Bulgarian media as well, accusing
them of partial reporting and lack of presentation of OMO Ilinden Pirin's
arguments. |
