ANDREAS GROSS: THERE ARE ELEMENTS FOR NEW INVESTIGATION ON TRAJKOVSKI'S DEATH

The plane crash, which claimed the life of President Boris Trajkovski and his entourage more than three years ago, was probably an accident where the pilots are not the only ones responsible, said Swiss member of European Parliament Andreas Gross in his report to the Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
The report, presented by Deutsche Welle Radio - Macedonian Program, reads that despite conclusions of the official investigation, SFOR forces could also have responsibility for the crash, "due to their negligence, which maybe led to non-revealing of the real reasons for the accident".
MEP Gross recommends continuation of the investigation in the plane crash, also wanted by political leaders of the country, regardless of their political background.
According to Deutsche Welle, especially important is Gross' conclusion that he had not managed to reveal groups or individuals in Macedonia, "who would possess serious reasons to take the life of President Trajkovski".
On the other hand, he is surprised from, "the incoherent and vague official investigation on the reasons for the crash", especially in the part referring to the first 24-26 hours following the accident, i.e. the time needed to find the plane.
MEP Gross also asks questions about the disputable information regarding the mined terrain, faxes exchanged between the Bosnian and Macedonian authorities, and doubts that the plane had been found much earlier than stated in the official version.
He believes that the plane's "black box" should undergo new expertise, due to the missing 18 seconds from the recording. Moreover, the official report does not state whether the flight controller was questioned by the investigative bodies.
According to Gross, these elements deserve to be reviewed in a new investigation, which would shed light on the circumstances about the death of President Boris Trajkovski.
Deutsche Welle - Macedonian Program reports that the PACE Bureau would tackle the Gross report at a session in Slovakian capital Bratislava.
